The Giro d’italia is comming to Seiser Alm.
After the 2009 races, the Giro d’Italia 2016 will once more be winding its way through the Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm holiday area: the time trial stage from Castelrotto/Kastelruth to the Alpe di Siusi is on the program for Sunday 22nd May 2016.
The 15th stage of the race will set off from the picturesque town centre of Castelrotto and lead cyclists on a 10.8 km stretch up to Compaccio/Compatsch on the Alpe di Siusi. In this spectacular race against time, athletes will be tackling an elevation difference of 750 metres. The Castelrotto – Alpe di Siusi stage of the Giro d’Italia is one of the three individual time trials of the race this year.
The world championship stretch boasts spectacular views of the nearby Dolomite peaks of the Sciliar/Schlern, Sasso Lungo/Langkofel and the Sasso Piatto/Plattkofel. Part of the route takes in one of the 30-odd official mountain bike trails in the cycling region of Gardena/Gröden – Alpe di Siusi.
